700 signatures for a petition to not leave Trastevere anymore alone after midnight. This ancient district of Rome suffers every night noise, vandals, graffiti guys and people getting out drunk from pubs .
During the day the problems are represented by the illegal immigrants selling cheap items like purses, bags and underwear.
The people who is working there say that it's difficult to work in Trastevere because of the presence of many cars and of the density of its inhabitants: too many pepole in one spot. The sanitation company of Rome is doing an hard job there.
What's the situation studied at the moment? The local traffic department of Rome decided to limit the access in the district only to the cars registered as belonging to the residents of that area.
It seems always that this petitions to the major and to the prefect of Rome are not enough because other residents say that the problem is the large number of licenses issued for bars, pub, private activities. And other people complain more saying that the business owners close their activities behind the hours allowed by the law ( 2.00 at night ).
It's like to organize a party in an apartment with 100 people.
The district of Trastevere is located, as its name says, on the other side of the Tiber river and in the middle of its narrow streets there is the first church built in Rome ( II century BC ), santa Maria in Trastevere, famous for its inscriptions coming from the catacombs and for its medieval mosaics, art masterpieces of Pietro Cavallini.
